The Higher Desires is an indie rock project blending acoustic guitars, driving riffs, and socially conscious lyrics into songs that aim to connect both heart and mind. Guided by a vision of unity and inspired by real-world struggles, their music balances intensity with melody, reflecting on life’s hardest questions while celebrating its brightest moments.
Led by William Walbaum, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist, producer, and engineer, The Higher Desires thrives on a hands-on, authentic approach. William writes, performs, and produces nearly every element of the music — from drums and bass to guitar, vocals, and final mixes — giving each track a personal signature.
The catalog already spans powerful themes: peace and humanity (The Children), honoring veterans (Unknown Soldiers), and generational challenges (Generation Me, I Know Right). With more than ten additional songs in production, including tracks exploring love, resilience, and celebration, The Higher Desires are steadily building toward a body of work that reflects life in all its struggle and beauty.
Looking ahead, the band is preparing its debut full-length album, Higher Desires. Named after the unreleased track that inspired both the band’s name and its mission, the album will capture a wide range of moods and grooves — from socially conscious reflections to music built for good times. The title song leans into themes of joy, love, and connection, with lyrics that channel endorphins, dancing, and even the simple beauty of walking on the beach.
